Video Teleconferencing

Video Teleconferencing encompasses the technology allowing the digitizing of video, audio and data for compression and transmission over the public switched network. Utilizing a minimum bandwidth of 384 kb/s, frame rates of near 30 frames per second can be achieved allowing near full motion video interaction in the instructional and distance learning setting. Three ISDN (dial-up connection) lines or one 1/4 T1 (dedicated connection) lines are required to support 384 kb/s.

Video Teleconferencing utilizing the Internet is now possible bypassing the public switched network. Network bandwidth constraints remain a consideration with this technology, but allow teaching and learning from desktop to desktop.

Video Teleconferencing equipment has been on State Contract. Please contact this office to learn the current status of the contract.
