Engineering Services

Welcome to the Engineering Services of the Florida Knowledge Network. Our goal is to enhance the support services provided to our clients. A number of resources are identified here to provide you with information and to help resolve your technical problems.

Engineering Services provides Florida school districts and community colleges with technical support in the design and implementation of most instructional and distance learning technologies. These technologies include:

ITFS - Instructional Television Fixed Service
Satellite - tuning the DSR-4200V, the DSR-406V and other links
Cable Television - RF transmission via coaxial cable and fiber optics
Video Teleconferencing - compressed video systems
Distance Learning Classroom - design suggestions

In addition, Engineering Services operates and maintains a hybrid coaxial/fiber optic closed-circuit television (CCTV) distribution system delivering programming to the Turlington, Collins and Capitol Buildings in Tallahassee. As such, engineering services operates several C/Ku-band analog and digital satellite television receive-only (TVRO) systems, and two broadcast feeds from Florida Public Television covering the State House and Senate proceedings when the Florida Legislature is in session.

    Television Receive Only Satellite Help Desk
    The TVRO help desk assists ITV clients in all phases of satellite downlinking operations -- satellite receiver basic operations, receiver setup and troubleshooting, satellite deletions and additions, etc. Please call (850) 245-9477 if you need assistance with your TVRO satellite system.

    Client Consultation
    Engineering Services is equipped to provide technical support to school districts and community colleges in the systems analysis, design and implementation process as well as, specifications for a host of technologies such as, instructional television fixed services (ITFS), analog/digital downlinking and uplinking, RF distribution systems, compressed video systems, distance learning classrooms, and fiber optics.
