Cable Television (RF transmission via coaxial cable and fiber optics)

Cable television services transmit video, audio and data programming in the 54 MHz to 950 MHz bandwidth over coaxial cables and fiber optic lines. Cable operators transmit entertainment and information programming over these networks. Recent developments allow for the high bandwidth transmission of Internet and data services. Many cable operators incorporate a combination of fiber optics for programming delivery to neighborhood nodes and switch delivery to coaxial lines to homes and businesses.

Coaxial cable is still used for the delivery of television services to the classroom in most of Florida's schools. Local cable operators generally offer schools "Cable in the Classroom" programming free as part of their franchise agreements.
