Ready to Learn / Friends to the Rescue Workshop: WEDU Education and Outreach Manager Sartura Shuman hosted a special workshop for Head Start and City of Tampa Recreation Department employees as part of the station’s Ready to Learn outreach program. The workshop highlighted positive coping strategies for children and caregivers during times of stress. Attendees made “Hurricane Survival Kits” consisting of decorated boxes filled with crayons, puzzles, a small plush toy and photographs. The kits were samples of what children might like to have as a comforting factor during a crisis.
